New Featured Artist: Kyle Sinkule

This week the Catholic Playlist is pleased to introduce you to our new featured artist this week, Kyle Sinkule. Kyle is a singer and songwriter from Texas who grew up in a musical household, which had a major impact on his life and helped to shape his career. Kyle first picked up a guitar in the 4th grade and has been obsessed ever since. During his middle school years, his life was full of defining moments:

“I was asked by one of my teachers to play my guitar at my school’s weekly Masses, which I did during my seventh and eighth grade years. However, the turning point in my life was when I was asked to play at Wednesday night Masses at church. I found my best friends at these Masses. We formed a band and played everywhere and anywhere anyone would take us. We practiced for countless hours on end. This is when God told me this is where I should be.”

At just 17 years old he was mentored by professionals in the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) business in Nashville, and in the spring of 2015 one of his songs reached #1 on Amazon’s Singer-Songwriters chart. Inspired by this accomplishment, Kyle continued writing and selected six songs to feature on his first EP, titled Walk With Me. Released in May of 2016, the song “Brother” provided the title – one of the verses says, “Brother, will you walk with me?”, and that sets the tone for the journey Kyle wants to take you on in this album; a journey of understanding the mercy, forgiveness, and promises of God.

sinkule-kyle-walk-with-meWalk With Me showcases Kyle’s style which is a unique blend of folk, rock, and country. His song lyrics are inspired by Old Testament Bible stories and the writings of Paul as portrayed in the song we’re featuring in Catholic Playlist #135, “Saul”, a more upbeat song featuring the sweet sound of the mandolin.

Dana Catherine Makes Her Debut

We’ve got a great show in store for you with new music and a new featured artist, but first we want to welcome 2 new radio affiliates now playing the Catholic Playlist show! The Catholic Playlist can now be heard on Sacred Heart Radio KQSH 90.7 in Dodge City, Kansas, and The Station of the Cross WLOF 101.7 in Buffalo, NY.

In our playlist today we have new music from Adam Bitter and Joe Zambon who both released new albums recently, Jackie Bissin released a new single too, plus songs from Taylor Tripodi, Aly Aleigha, Ike Ndolo, Chris Bray, Dante Schmitz and last week’s new featured artist Dan Francis.

Recently signed with a new Christian record label, Rekindle Records, Dana just released her first single, “My Savior in Me” which you can hear leading off the second segment of the show.

S2:E21 Catholic Playlist Worship #64

The Catholic Playlist Worship show returns this week with episode #64 and a playlist of some great sacred and traditional music for your enjoyment.

S2:E20 Catholic Playlist Worship #63

New artists and music is what the Catholic Playlist is all about. This hasn’t always been true however for the Catholic Playlist Worship version of the show. After 62 episodes of the show, we don’t see the same kind of energy being put into traditional, sacred and classical music. Maybe we aren’t trying as hard, but it seems true to us. That’s probably why the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles from the De Montfort Music label took the classical music world by storm the last couple of years.

This week we find a new artist to share with you from the sacred music side. Lorraine Hess joins the Worship show this week with “Soul of Christ”, a new arrangement of the Anima Christi prayer. Jack Cassidy smoothly sings “Brian’s Hymn (When I Turn to You)” and the sisters of the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles beautifully offer “Lauda Sion”. Other performers include Collin Raye, Liz Christian, Kitty Cleveland, Steve Angrisano and more.

New Featured Artist: Dan Francis

We’re pleased to introduce Dan Francis as our featured new artist in Catholic Playlist Show #133. Dan reached out to us recently to let us know about his music and after giving it a quick listen, we think you will like what you hear too. Especially if you are a Matt Maher fan, because 2 of the songs on his 5 song EP “The Wall” were co-written with Matt.

It's All About Mercy

You already know this is a Jubilee Year of Mercy, so we thought it would be fun to put together a playlist of songs with ‘mercy’ in the title or with a mercy theme, so this week our playlist is all about mercy. Featured is PJ Anderson with 3 selections from his new album aptly titled “Mercy, Mercy”, as well as John Finch, Tori Harris, The Thirsting, and Pontifex with the acoustic version of “No Mercy”, which is a bonus track on his album “The Invicibles”.

Next week our show will feature music from artists performing at World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow, Poland, and Dan Francis makes his debut on the Catholic Playlist as our New Featured Artist.

S3:E20 Catholic Playlist Show #131

Hear New Music from Ben Walther, Alob & Emily Wilson

Discovery of new music and artists is a key part of what the Catholic Playlist show is all about. Missing a show means you’ll fall behind in discovering great new Christian music that you can share with friends and family. Sometimes all it takes is one song to help someone dig deeper in their faith, or awaken a dormant faith, or just give a little inspiration and encouragement in their day.

This week we’re pleased to have new music and a new artist in the Catholic Playlist. First, Ben Walther released his second album titled ‘Ablaze’, a 5 song collection that exhorts us to become a light in the darkness. In fact the title track, which leads off the second segment of the show, does just that with this refrain:

“Let’s set the world on fire, let’s raise his banner higher.”

alobFollowing that debut we have a new single to share from Andrew Laubacher (a.k.a ALOB) and Emily Wilson titled “Mercy Wins”. Alob is new to the Catholic Playlist but not new to the Catholic music scene as he’s collaborated and worked with many Catholic artists like Connor Flanagan, Katy Blythe, Francis Cabildo, and now Emily Wilson. “Mercy Wins” was written by Emily and Andrew and they “hope this song inspires all to love God more and accept the Mercy that is so freely given to us – His mercy that conquers all.”

Back with a Mix of Old and New

We’re back after an unscheduled 3 week hiatus and so happy to be picking some of the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists for playlist #130! This week’s edition has a mix of songs that are new and old – and my ‘old’ we mean stuff that’s more than a year or two old. For example of the new, we have new singles from Sarah Kroger and Andrea Thomas and newer songs by Josh Blakesley and FOCUS Worship.
