Catholic Playlist #101

Catholic Playlist #100 September 29 happened to be National Coffee Day. ‘Coffee’ also happens to be the first radio single from Fr Kevin McGoldrick’s new albulm ‘Square Peg, Round Hole’ (pre-order here or here). Inspired by these facts, we decided to open this week’s playlist episode with a set of songs that set the tone for a great day. So if you’ve been looking for some ‘wake up’ morning music to get you inspired to take on the day, pay close attention to our first segment of the show.

Catholic Playlist Worship – #31

Catholic Playlist Worship #31 Some ‘classic’ favorites make an appearance in this week’s episode of Catholic Playlist Worship. First, there’s a 1975 recording of “Turn to Me” from the Saint Louis Jesuits. While it’s not recorded with the best quality (it’s probably a digital copy of the original vinyl recording), it nevertheless will bring back fond memories of hearing it for years at Mass.

More fond memories are in store with “Hear I Am, Lord” from Dan Schutte, but this one is a special 30th anniversary release, so it sounds great. Other artists appearing this week include Anna Nuzzo, Jon Sarta, Twila Paris, James Rosenbloom, Jackie Evancho and more. Enjoy playlist #31!

Catholic Playlist #100

Catholic Playlist #100 It’s our 100th episode! It’s been a joy to produce and host the Catholic Playlist from the beginning, and this week for our 100th playlist we take a look back and celebrate some of the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists that we’ve discovered and enjoyed along the way. We start the playlist with some of the most familiar names in the industry and then transition to some of our favorite new artists that we’ve all come to enjoy – Tori Harris, Connor Flanagan, PJ Anderson, Matt Faley, Alverlis, Katy Blythe, Dante Schmitz, and Taylor Tripodi. We also celebrate the diversity of the music to be found these days as Catholic hip hop artist Pontifex, aka Fr Claude Burns, makes an appearance in the playlist.

Plus we are so excited to debut a song from our new featured artist this week, Fr Kevin McGoldrick. His new album “Square Peg, Round Hole” is available for pre-order right now on iTunes and Amazon and we highly recommend it to our listeners! It’s a bluesy and joyful work of art with 10 amazing songs that bring the true, the good and the beautiful right into your ears.

Catholic Playlist Worship – #30 & #29

We get such good feedback about the music on the Catholic Playlist Worship show. But it’s hard to take any credit for it when there is such an amazing library of great traditional and sacred available to chose from! This week is no exception, as playlist #30 includes selections from Jackie Evancho, Jon Niven, Collin Raye, Michelle Romary, Melinda Kirigin-Voss and Marian Grace. Friar Alessandro along with the London Studio Orchestra make an appearance with “Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace”, as does the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist with Keating’s “Te Deum”.

In our rush to finish the 100th episode of the Catholic Playlist show we forgot to post the 29th episode of Catholic Playlist Worship! Kathleen Fowle joins the playlist with “We Cry Holy Genlty You Call” and Katy Blythe crosses over from the contemporary side with “I Thirst”. Dawn Dinome sings “Surely the Presence of the Lord is in This Place” and Jackie Evancho signs a soaring rendition of “Ave Maria”. Other performers in the playlist include Edwin Fawcett, Jon Sarta, Beth Nielsen Chapman, The Glory Collective featuring Maria Price, the WLP Choir and more.

New Featured Artist: Fr Kevin McGoldrick

One of the best parts of doing this show is discovering new music being made by talented Catholic artists. Well, there’s no questioning the Catholic background of our new featured artist this week – Fr. Kevin McGoldrick.

Fr. Kevin has been a Catholic priest for over 10 years and a musician for over 30. When he became a priest, he knew it meant that he’d probably have to give up music. But the Lord had other plans, and over the past three to four years he’s entered a new phase in his musical journey. Following a successful IndieGoGo campaign, Fr Kevin’s debut album “Square Peg, Round Hole” is a bluesy and joyful work of art with 10 amazing songs that bring the true, the good and the beautiful right into your ears.

Releasing sometime in October, “Square Peg, Round Hole” is available for pre-order right now on iTunes and Amazon. We happened to get our hands on his music a little early because we supported his fundraising campaign last year, and now we’re excited debut “Jesus You Are Beautiful” in our 100th show special! #99 Catholic Playlist Show

Catholic Playlist #99 Just 1 more week until episode #100! But right now it’s playlist #99 for us this week as we continue to share the joy of the Gospel through the power of music. This week we feature performances from Adam Bitter, Ceili Rain, Luke Spehar, Sarah Hart, The Thirsting and others. The show starts with a set of songs from the performers at the Abbey Faith and Music Festival coming up on Saturday, September 19th at the Daylesford Abbey near Philadelphia. It’s a great music event! #98 Catholic Playlist Show

Catholic Playlist #98 A week or more ago I was introduced to Rebecca Roubion and her music. She had recently performed for a pilgrimage group in Nashville as they made their way to the EWTN studios in Birmingham, AL. The group was the staff at St Gabriel Catholic Radio, who were celebrating 10 years on the air in Columbus, Ohio. St Gabriel Catholic Radio AM820 broadcasts the Catholic Playlist show, and after an impressive performance from Rebecca, thought we might want to consider adding her music to the Catholic Playlist.

And so Rebecca Roubion joins the playlist this week as we share the joy of the Gospel through the power of contemporary Christian music here on the Catholic Playlist show. This happens to be playlist #98, which means we’re just 2 more playlists away to reach 100! I can tell you with all honesty that I never imagined that we’d reach this milestone. But we’ve been blessed by God to continue this work because He wants you to know about this great music. In addition to Rebecca Roubion’s song “What Love Looks Like”, the playlist has music from Francis Cabildo, Shaun Garrison, NOVUM, Cody Roth, Dee Simone, Jeremy & Ryan, and others, including “Cathedral” from Greg & Lizzy.
