Three new song debuts highlight playlist #194 of the Catholic Playlist Show! Up first in the playlist is the debut of “Faithful” the newest single from Teresa Peterson. Her new EP, also titled “Faithful” is set for release on June 1, 2018 – you can pre-order here now. A couple weeks ago we debuted a new single from Taylor Tripodi (“You Heard My Name“), and now she’s released another track this week called “Awakening“. We play both of these great new songs back to back! Then at the start of the second segment of the show we debut the newest effort from The Vigil Project and Greg&Lizzy, “Fire of Your Love” is a song meant to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. Oh how time runs by. It’s been over 2(!) months since I lasted posted a new show here to the website and I feel terrible about it for a couple of reasons. First, the show is first and foremost a showcase of some of the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists and if I don’t post a show they miss out on some key exposure to their target audience. Ouch. Second, the show serves a way for Christian music lovers to discover new music and artists to listen to for encouragement and inspiration. When there’s no show, there’s no discovery. Sigh.

We’re back this week with another new show to share the joy of the Gospel through the power of music. And for the first time in quite some time, we have a new featured artist! We found out about Corrie Marie recently as her PledgeMusic campaign was winding down for her debut album. After making a pledge towards her project we were able to sample one of her songs, “Humble Host”, and we knew we had to share this talented artist with you. Look for her debut in the second segment of the show.

The rest of the playlist features selections from Mathias Michael, Teresa Peterson, Rita West, Out of Darkness and others. We picked “Falling Down” from Lee Roessler to include, and we had to play “Were You There” by Dante Schmitz, one of our favorite songs for Lent.

The Catholic Playlist is Back!

Hey everybody, we’re still here! The Catholic Playlist show finally returns for the first playlist of 2018. It’s a late start to Season 5 to be sure but we’re still sharing the joy of the Gospel through the power of music! We’re going a little bit folk with episode #175 of the Catholic Playlist this week, headlined by The Mosleys, our new featured artist. We chose “Brighter Days” from their first full length album Ordinary Time for their debut, which can be heard leading off the second segment of the show. We followed that up with “Help Me Mary” from Daniel Rolf and “Good Shepherd” from Brother Isaiah for a distinctly folk music vibe.

That music is sandwiched between performances from Out of Darkness, Marie Miller, Greg Walton, NOVUM and many others. Enjoy!

It figures. I play up a special episode featuring all ‘super upbeat’ songs, which proved really popular, and then I don’t post a new show for nearly 2 months. From upbeat to silence for weeks…how ironic.

New shows have been produced nearly every week since the upbeat show, and I’ll post some explanation as to why the posts have been delayed soon, but until then enjoy this catch up post featuring 4 shows:

After releasing an “upbeat” theme show featuring all high energy songs, this week we take things a little slower, but only a little. Some of the music in the playlist includes “Coming Home” by Joe Zambon, “Even The Winter” by Audrey Assad, “Even In This” from Josh Blakesley and “Innocent” by Francis Cabildo. Other artists you’ll hear include Out of Darkness, Alob, Kara Klein, Tori Harris, Dave Moore and others.

The process of selecting music for each playlist sometimes leads us to find songs on albums that we didn’t notice before. That’s the case this week as we realized that “Curls” from Katy Blythe’s debut EP ‘NEW’ was a really good song. Same goes for “All I Am Is Yours” by Benjamin Jude and “Lead Me To You” by John Trabbic. Lent is underway in 2017 and while we won’t be playing songs with alleluia in the title or in the lyrics (but we might miss one here or there — please forgive!), we will keep playing the best and newest contemporary Christian music by Catholic artists.
