S3:E34 Catholic Playlist – #145

We’re back again this week sharing the joy of the Gospel through the power of music! The Catholic Playlist show is the most listened to Catholic contemporary Christian music show in America, and we thank all of our listeners on radio and our on demand podcast for making it happen. You can get the Catholic Playlist Show on demand right here at our website, on iTunes, our podcast page at Podbean, at acast or even at Stitcher.

Finally, we found a song from Sarah Hart’s new album Till the Song is Sung that we’re digging now titled “Source and Yield”. We hope you’ll like it too.

S3:E20 Catholic Playlist Show #131

Hear New Music from Ben Walther, Alob & Emily Wilson

Discovery of new music and artists is a key part of what the Catholic Playlist show is all about. Missing a show means you’ll fall behind in discovering great new Christian music that you can share with friends and family. Sometimes all it takes is one song to help someone dig deeper in their faith, or awaken a dormant faith, or just give a little inspiration and encouragement in their day.

This week we’re pleased to have new music and a new artist in the Catholic Playlist. First, Ben Walther released his second album titled ‘Ablaze’, a 5 song collection that exhorts us to become a light in the darkness. In fact the title track, which leads off the second segment of the show, does just that with this refrain:

“Let’s set the world on fire, let’s raise his banner higher.”

alobFollowing that debut we have a new single to share from Andrew Laubacher (a.k.a ALOB) and Emily Wilson titled “Mercy Wins”. Alob is new to the Catholic Playlist but not new to the Catholic music scene as he’s collaborated and worked with many Catholic artists like Connor Flanagan, Katy Blythe, Francis Cabildo, and now Emily Wilson. “Mercy Wins” was written by Emily and Andrew and they “hope this song inspires all to love God more and accept the Mercy that is so freely given to us – His mercy that conquers all.”

Alob & Emily Wilson – “Mercy Wins” Amazon iTunes

It's Mary's Month!

Catholic Playlist #126Like I said in last week’s post for Catholic Playlist Worship #55, the month of May is one of my favorite months. First, it means the season of spring is now getting into full swing (finally) here in Ohio, the end of the school year is now just days away, it’s my birthday month and last but certainly not least, it’s the month dedicated to the Blessed Mother! To mark this occasion, I’ve put together a special playlist this week featuring 8 songs about Mary. I couldn’t quite fill the entire playlist with Marian songs, but I think you’ll still enjoy the distinct theme of the playlist.

Our songs about Mary come from Connor Flanagan, Danielle Rose, Kevin Heider, Jesse Manibusan, Fr Kevin McGoldrick, The Thirsting and one of my new favorites is Matt Faley’s take on a real classic – “Ave Maria”.

Here’s the full playlist in random order:

Another new release from the Vigil Project

Catholic Playlist #122It’s wonderful to be back after a couple of weeks off, mostly due to hosting the Holy Family Radio annual pledge drive. All the prep and on air work involved with that event makes it a little tough to put together a great show. But that’s exactly what’s in store for you in playlist #122.

A new release from the Vigil Project headlines this episode of the Catholic Playlist. “I Have Seen The Lord” by John Finch is the latest from the Vigil Project and offers a passionate take on the Easter experience as seen from Mary Magdalene’s perspective. John offers more about the inspiration to the song to lead off the second segment of the show, which you can also watch right now:

Other great artists and songs heard this week include Matt Faley (“On My Own”), Matt Maher (“Deliverer”), Jaime Thietten (“Chasing Me”) and Donny Todd (“Heart”).

Catholic Playlist #100

Catholic Playlist #100It’s our 100th episode! It’s been a joy to produce and host the Catholic Playlist from the beginning, and this week for our 100th playlist we take a look back and celebrate some of the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists that we’ve discovered and enjoyed along the way. We start the playlist with some of the most familiar names in the industry and then transition to some of our favorite new artists that we’ve all come to enjoy – Tori Harris, Connor Flanagan, PJ Anderson, Matt Faley, Alverlis, Katy Blythe, Dante Schmitz, and Taylor Tripodi. We also celebrate the diversity of the music to be found these days as Catholic hip hop artist Pontifex, aka Fr Claude Burns, makes an appearance in the playlist.

Kevin McGoldrickPlus we are so excited to debut a song from our new featured artist this week, Fr Kevin McGoldrick. His new album “Square Peg, Round Hole” is available for pre-order right now on iTunes and Amazon and we highly recommend it to our listeners! It’s a bluesy and joyful work of art with 10 amazing songs that bring the true, the good and the beautiful right into your ears.

You know, when first started the Catholic Playlist we didn’t know of very many contemporary Catholic artists so those we did know were featured quited often in the early playlists, starting with Matt Maher, who really needs no introduction:
