S3:E1 – Catholic Playlist & Worship

New Shows Kick Off 2016

The Catholic Playlist show returns in 2016 to continue the mission of playing the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists. This marks our third season of shows, and we’ll be referring to them in Netflix fashion from now on and not by show number. So this show is Episode 1 of Season 3 or S3:E1. What do you think?

S3:E1 Catholic Playlist ShowA great playlist is in store for you in this episode as we have music from many new artists, like Jeremy & Ryan, Taylor Tripodi, Aly Aleigha, Fr Kevin McGoldrick and others such as Matt Maher, Greg&Lizzy, Josh Blakesley and more.

The biggest surprise in store for you leads off our second segment. Tom Wilson, the actor who plays Biff Tannen in the “Back to the Future” trilogy of movies, recorded a contemporary Christian music album in 2000 titled “In the Name of the Father.” Turns out that Tom is a devout Catholic and we couldn’t resist playing a track from the album. So if you want to know what Biff Tannen sounds like as a singer – singing Christian music – this show is your chance.

Catholic Playlist #42The Catholic Playlist Worship show returns in 2016 to continue playing many of the best and most loved Catholic hymns and traditional music. Episode #42 of the playlist features many of the artists you’re already familar with: Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, Jackie Evancho, WLP Choir, Dan Schutte and others. We feature an original composition titled “Resolved” from James Rosenbloom in the playlist this week.

Catholic Playlist #101

Catholic Playlist #100September 29 happened to be National Coffee Day. ‘Coffee’ also happens to be the first radio single from Fr Kevin McGoldrick’s new albulm ‘Square Peg, Round Hole’ (pre-order here or here). Inspired by these facts, we decided to open this week’s playlist episode with a set of songs that set the tone for a great day. So if you’ve been looking for some ‘wake up’ morning music to get you inspired to take on the day, pay close attention to our first segment of the show.

Performers in this week’s playlist include Sarah Kroger, Kevin Heider, Rebecca Roubion, Steve Angrisano, Donny Todd, and Kara Klein. First, we’ve never had more than 2 Gregorian chants in a playlist but this week we have 3 – The Monks of Norcia, the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos, and Gloria Die Cantores Schola. We like to say that we’re sharing the joy of the Gospel through the power of music, because music has an undeniable ability to move the soul of the listener. And music that glorifies God and stirs the soul, is truly an instrument to bring people to the Lord and to build unity. It’s a great and bold mission we take up each week to produce the show, and we are grateful for the opportunity to do this work. #76 Catholic Playlist Show

Catholic Playlist #76Catholic Playlist show #76 comes to you near the midpoint of Lent 2015 and let it be a little bit of encouragement and sunshine during this penitential season.

Now that we’ve been doing this show for nearly 2 years, we have built up a nice sized library of music that keeps expanding every week as new artists come along (Matt Faley, Teresa Peterson, Shaun Garrison, Dave Moore) and new albums are released (Greg & Lizzy, Mikey Needleman, and Matt Maher on 3/17). So we packed the playlist tight this week chock full of great music and a couple of new songs. Included in Playlist #76 are Alverlis, Katy Blythe, Tori Harris, Ike Ndolo, Greg & Lizzy, Matt Faley, Josh Blakesley and others. And be sure to check out the first track from Kevin Heider called St Brigid’s Fire. Even though it’s written about St Brigid, it makes for a great Irish drinking song fit of St Patrick’s day. Enjoy!

Catholic Playlist #69Sharing the joy of the Gospel through music by playing the best and some of the very newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists only. This is music you aren’t going to hear anywhere else – not because it’s not good enough, but because no one else is playing it! In fact, until we started this show, we had no idea how many great artists and awesome songs were out there. But if you’ve been listening to this program for some time, you know that there are a LOT of great artists out there and we’re discovering more each week. In fact, this week we’re featuring Shaun Garrison as our new artist – and we already have new artists lined up in the next few weeks and we’re really excited about that.
