Featuring Alanna Boudreau, E.P.I.C. the Band, and Mike Mangione

We found new music for you in this week’s Catholic Playlist Show. Episode #139 brings you music from Alanna Boudreau’s new album Champion and a new group, E.P.I.C. the Band, suggested we give their music a spin, and after sampling it, we’re happy to oblige. We haven’t heard from Mike Mangione & The Union in quite a while, so we you’ll hear “Are We Going To Rise?” to fix that problem. And we picked songs we haven’t played before from the FOCUS Worship team (“Sing My Love/Like An Avalanche”), Taylor Tripodi (“Forgiven”) and Mathias Michael (“How Great Thou Art”).

Dana Catherine Makes Her Debut

We’ve got a great show in store for you with new music and a new featured artist, but first we want to welcome 2 new radio affiliates now playing the Catholic Playlist show! The Catholic Playlist can now be heard on Sacred Heart Radio KQSH 90.7 in Dodge City, Kansas, and The Station of the Cross WLOF 101.7 in Buffalo, NY.

In our playlist today we have new music from Adam Bitter and Joe Zambon who both released new albums recently, Jackie Bissin released a new single too, plus songs from Taylor Tripodi, Aly Aleigha, Ike Ndolo, Chris Bray, Dante Schmitz and last week’s new featured artist Dan Francis.

Dana CatherinePlus our new featured artist is Dana Catherine, a Catholic singer/songwriter, who serves as a youth minister in Raleigh, NC and travels throughout the U.S. to encourage and inspire others with her songs and witness. Recently signed with a new Christian record label, Rekindle Records, Dana just released her first single, “My Savior in Me” which you can hear leading off the second segment of the show.

Next week the first Sunday of Advent will be upon us and we’re going to be playing only Advent and Christmas music during the season – and there is a lot of great music here too! Wade TalleyWade grew up in Corning, Kansas and where he married his high school sweetheart and now has seven children on this earth and twin girls in heaven. He’s got a great story about his inspiration for writing songs that we’ll look to tell in a future show, but he just released his second album “To Sing Your Song” earlier this month, a follow up to his debut album “A Shot In The Dark”. His songs all center on themes of faith and family and speak of being a husband and a father as well as how to get through hard times. But this week we really demonstrate that commitment! For the newest music, we have a song from Andrea Thomas’ brand new album “Will You Go”, a new single from Audrey Assad, another song from Fr Kevin McGoldrick’s album that’s coming out soon, and we’ll play “Coming Home” featuring Tori Harris again. As for the best in music, we have Matt Maher who just won 2 Dove awards, the most prestigious awards in Christian music. One was for Songwriter of the Year and the other for Worship Song of the Year, “Because He Lives”.

It’s been a joy to produce and host the Catholic Playlist from the beginning, and this week for our 100th playlist we take a look back and celebrate some of the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists that we’ve discovered and enjoyed along the way. We start the playlist with some of the most familiar names in the industry and then transition to some of our favorite new artists that we’ve all come to enjoy – Tori Harris, Connor Flanagan, PJ Anderson, Matt Faley, Alverlis, Katy Blythe, Dante Schmitz, and Taylor Tripodi. We also celebrate the diversity of the music to be found these days as Catholic hip hop artist Pontifex, aka Fr Claude Burns, makes an appearance in the playlist.
