Catholic Playlist #103

Catholic Playlist #103You already know our tag line of “sharing the joy of the Gospel through the power of music”, which means playing the best and some of the very newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists only.

But this week we really demonstrate that commitment! For the newest music, we have a song from Andrea Thomas’ brand new album “Will You Go”, a new single from Audrey Assad, another song from Fr Kevin McGoldrick’s album that’s coming out soon, and we’ll play “Coming Home” featuring Tori Harris again. As for the best in music, we have Matt Maher who just won 2 Dove awards, the most prestigious awards in Christian music. One was for Songwriter of the Year and the other for Worship Song of the Year, “Because He Lives”.

Other great artists in the playlist include Dee Simone, Collin Raye, Dante Schmitz, Matt Faley and more.

Catholic Playlist Worship #33We’re back again with more great music that will have your mind lifted up to God throughout. WLP Choir leads off the playlist with “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name”, and later Marian Grace join in with “Sweet Sacrament”.

The St Louis Jesuits bring us a classic recording of “Earthen Vessels”, which we haven’t heard in quite a while, and Jack Cassidy smoothly croons “Be Still My Soul” with a skill not often found in a 14 year old!

Other artists in the playlist include Kitty Cleveland, Jon Niven, Jackie Evancho, Edwin Fawcett, Vince Ambrosetti and more. Enjoy:

Catholic Playlist #102

Catholic Playlist #102Discovering new music is one of our favorite things about doing the Catholic Playlist, and this week doesn’t disappoint! We are always on the look out for new music and artists for the show, and this week we found Danielle Noonan, making her debut with “There Is No One Like You” from her album ‘The Awaken Project’.

In addition to searching out new music, we keep watch over what’s happening in the Catholic music scene and there’s a lot going on right now. For example Lee Roessler, who makes an appearance in the playlist this week, is working on a new album, as is Sarah Hart, Connor Flanagan and Rebecca Roubion. And Tori Harris has co-written and is featured in a new single released this week called “Coming Home”. Inspired by the coming Year of Mercy, the song is about the prodigal son and God’s forgiveness and judging by the comments we’ve read, it’s a hit. Check out the video of the song that we posted earlier too.

The rest of the playlist features performances from Out of Darkness, John Finch, Greg & Lizzy, Chris Bray, Dave Moore, Ben Walther, Hope and Justin (who we just learned is set to release their new album “Love & War” in 2016) and Army of Me. Enjoy!

Next Week: New music from Andrea Thomas!

Don’t forget to add your favorites to your personal playlists!

Catholic Playlist Worship – #32

Catholic Playlist Worship #2October is the month of the Holy Rosary, so for this week’s edition of the Catholic Playlist Worship show we filled it with as many Marian songs and hymns that we could find.

The results include songs like “Immaculate Mary” by The Cathedral Singers, “Salve Regina” by L’Angelus, and “Sing of Mary” by The Glory Collective featuring Kevin Heider. Of course the show wouldn’t be complete with “Ave Maria To Thee Holy Virgin” by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and “Hail Mary, Full of Grace” by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles. Oh, and “Ave Maria” by Andrea Bocelli isn’t to be missed too!

New Song Featuring Tori Harris Released

Tori Harris announced earlier this week that “Coming Home”, a song she co-wrote for the band, South by North, was just released. The band was excited to have Tori sing the lead vocal, plus they produced this awesome music video to promote the song:

Inspired by the Year of Mercy,”Coming Home” is about the Prodigal Son and God’s Forgiveness. We’ll be putting this song into the next playlist show, episode #102 coming out tomorrow or Friday.

Inspired by these facts, we decided to open this week’s playlist episode with a set of songs that set the tone for a great day. So if you’ve been looking for some ‘wake up’ morning music to get you inspired to take on the day, pay close attention to our first segment of the show.

Performers in this week’s playlist include Sarah Kroger, Kevin Heider, Rebecca Roubion, Steve Angrisano, Donny Todd, and Kara Klein. Stick around to the end of the show too as the last segment of the show features an eclectic mix of music that includes tracks from ooberfuse, Delmore and Benedictio. Enjoy!

Catholic Playlist Worship – #31

Catholic Playlist Worship #31Some ‘classic’ favorites make an appearance in this week’s episode of Catholic Playlist Worship. First, there’s a 1975 recording of “Turn to Me” from the Saint Louis Jesuits. While it’s not recorded with the best quality (it’s probably a digital copy of the original vinyl recording), it nevertheless will bring back fond memories of hearing it for years at Mass.

More fond memories are in store with “Hear I Am, Lord” from Dan Schutte, but this one is a special 30th anniversary release, so it sounds great. Other artists appearing this week include Anna Nuzzo, Jon Sarta, Twila Paris, James Rosenbloom, Jackie Evancho and more. Enjoy playlist #31!
