S2:E17 Catholic Playlist Worship #60

After an unscheduled break the Catholic Playlist Worship show returns with another playlist of sacred and traditional music, including Gregorian chant from the Monks of Norcia. Michelle Romary sings “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say”, Vince Ambrosetti performs “Come, You Who Labor” and Voces8 gives a splendid vocal performance in “Ubi Caritas”. Catholic Playlist #128The Catholic Playlist is expanding! This week the show welcomes the listeners of Catholic Community Radio to the Catholic Playlist. The Catholic Playlist Show can now be heard Saturday afternoons on 690AM WQNO New Orleans and 1380AM WPYR Baton Rouge in Louisiana. We are so happy to have y’all on board! These 2 new stations raises the total to 25 radio stations across the US playing the show.

This week our lineup of performers include Curtis Stephan, FOCUS Worship, Fr Rob Galea, Lee Roessler, Chris Bray, Dee Simone and many others. First, it means the season of spring is now getting into full swing (finally) here in Ohio, the end of the school year is now just days away, it’s my birthday month and last but certainly not least, it’s the month dedicated to the Blessed Mother! To mark this occasion, I’ve put together a special playlist this week featuring 8 songs about Mary. I couldn’t quite fill the entire playlist with Marian songs, but I think you’ll still enjoy the distinct theme of the playlist.

Three New Songs Make Their Debut

Catholic Playlist 125At the end of nearly every show, I exhort the listeners to sign up to our email list to “get the latest news and happenings in the Catholic music scene.” I’m betting a heavy amount that prior to this show’s existence, virtually no one ever considered the “Catholic music scene” to be a real thing. After all, this phrase implies (1) there are enough people making great music, and (2) there are enough people interested in their music to form a reasonably sized fan base. Right now, this radio show & podcast is doing all it can to attract and grow a fan base for the music. Thank you to every one who listens to this show and has become a fan of this music!

New albums are coming soon from PJ Anderson, Marie Miller, Connor Flanagan and Lee Roessler. Rebecca Roubion just released her newest album “Sleepless Nights”, John Finch has a new single out with Rita West, and the Vigil Project just released the last song in their series of songs for Lent and Easter. And I’m sure there are many more projects in the works too. It’s a good time to be a fan of the Catholic Playlist!

The Light - Extraordinary Mission MusicAnd we’re pleased to debut a single from a new album titled “The Light” from Rachel Ann & Cassandra Acree. The duo was formerly known as SimplyRC, but now they unite for a new EP of music featured in Extraordinary Mission events led by Dr John Wood. The single is titled “Fill Up My Darkenss” and Cassandra offers us some insight into what inspired her to write this song.
