#50 – Catholic Playlist Show

It’s the BIG 5-0! Thanks to our great listeners this is the 50th Catholic Playlist show and we think it’s the best one yet. We have brand new music from Brandon Fitts of Delmore and a new song from Marie Miller, as well as songs from Steve Angrisano, Tori Harris, Jackie Francois-Angel, Sarah Kroger, Out of Darkness and more. Our featured new artist this week is Andrea Thomas, a talented singer who has recorded with country music star Collin Raye. You can hear both Andrea and Collin in the second segment.

Did you know that virtually all of the artists we play on the show are independent artists? This means that they not only write and perform their own music, but also have to foot the bill for recording studio time, professional mastering, post-production, and so on. Please support these artists by buying their music, or even better, booking them for a conference, parish event or even an intimate house concert. New Featured Artist: Andrea Thomas

This week on the Catholic Playlist show our new featured artist Andrea Thomas. Andrea is a Cincinnati, Ohio native who left her hometown at 18 to study music at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Her next stop was to Franciscan University of Steubenville to finish her degree in Theology, Finance, and Marketing. Andrea’s passion for music led her to start an all-women’s singing group at Franciscan University which performed regularly throughout her three years on campus. It was during this time that she began writing her own music. In 2011 she debuted with multi-platinum, country music mega star, Collin Raye, on his first inspirational album, His Love Remains. Several months later, Andrea released her first album, Crying out to You, in 2011. Andrea travels and sings both solo and with Collin Raye at concerts and conferences throughout the United States.

If you’ve never listened to the Catholic Playlist before you’re in for a real treat. Why? Song of the Week – July 28, 2014

Ike Ndolo Band

Our song for the last week of July 2014 is “Wade in the Water” from Ike Ndolo. One of our personal favorite songs, “Wade in the Water” is a new version of a classic spiritual that shows the full depth of his musical background and abilities. The song comes from his 2009 debut album “We Are the Beggars”, which jumps out and grabs you with both its intensity and its strong lyrical content. Our song for the week of July 21st comes from Kara Klein. Kara is a singer/songwriter, worship leader and inspirational speaker from New Orleans, LA. She has released five original albums, her most recent album titled “Catch Me” came out in August of 2013. It’s filled with deeply personal, moving, yet upbeat and encouraging original songs, and one of our favorites is this week’s Catholic Playlist Song of the Week – “Way Maker” from Kara Klein.

The Catholic Playlist – THE show that plays the best and some of the very newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists today. What song, what artist, are you going to discover and hear for the first time in this show? Who knows, there might be something in here just for you!

This playlist – which has not 1 but 2 new song debuts, including the first ever EP from Katy Blythe, who is our featured new artist this week. The other debut is from Pasquale Talarico who co-wrote and recorded a song for Catholic Relief Services – an anthem of sorts called ‘One Family’. Other artists in the playlist include Jackie Bissin, Mike Mangione, Danielle Rose, Noelle Garcia, Kevin Heider, and a Tori Harris double take of 2 songs off her new EP Sweet Dolor that we haven’t played yet. Welcome to another Catholic Playlist show – playing the best and newest contemporary Christian music from Catholic artists. Our playlist today has songs from Collin Raye, Chris Bray, Marie Miller, SimplyRC, Sarah Kroger, Army of Me, Alanna-Marie Boudreau and Audrey Assad.

Leading off the show this week is Tori Harris. First congratulations to Tori as her new EP Sweet Dolor rose to #2 on the iTunes Gospel & Christian chart on Tuesday, she’s doing interviews with all sorts of radio stations, and is appearing this weekend in Oshkosh, WI at Lifest with big name acts like Casting Crowns, Toby Mac, Mandisa – in fact she’s the only Catholic artist there, so kudos to her! I think she’s set to breakout and songs like ‘King of Kings’ will make it happen. Enjoy the show!

In this edition we have a brand new single from PJ Anderson, a new track from Tori Harris’ new album coming out next week on July 8th, and a new single from our featured artist this week, Jackie Bissin.
