S2:E10 Catholic Playlist Worship – #52

Catholic Playlist Worship #52After a couple of weeks off for Easter which included hosting a pledge drive for Holy Family Radio, we’re back and ready to bring you another playlist.

We dug into the recent past a bit this week with the playlist, as have some familiar “classics” you’ve heard at Mass for years. These songs include “Come to the Water” from the St Louis Jesuits, “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” performed by the WLP Choir, and “We Remember” from the album “Catholic Classics, Vol 1”.

Shawn WilliamsAlso included is a new instrumental work by composer Shawn Williams titled “Redemption”. We highly recommend checking out his work. Other artists appearing in the playlist are Collin Raye, Kathleen Fowle, Jon Sarta, Jon Niven and several others.

Enjoy music from the Easter Season

Catholic Playlist Worship #51Start the Easter season with some great sacred and traditional music from this week’s playlist. Our Easter music includes “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today” by Jon Sarta, “For All The Saints” from the WLP Choir, and “Alleluia Ye Sons” by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles. This last selection is from their album “Easter at Ephesus” and is highly recommended. Also in the playlist are songs from Voces8, Jackie Evancho, Kathleen Fowle, Vince Ambrosetti and more.

Catholic Playlist Worship #47Lots of great Lent-themed music continues in this episode of Catholic Playlist Worship. If you enjoy listening to choral and classical music, then this playlist will be to your liking. Two songs from WLP Choir and Jon Sarta provide the theme music around selections from The Priests, Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles, Voces8 and Beth Nielsen Chapman. Be sure not to miss “The Litany of the Saints” beautifully presented by the Schola Cantorum of St Peter the Apostle!

More Great Music for Lent

Catholic Playlist Worship #46The season of Lent goes on and this week’s Catholic Playlist Worship episode is the next playlist of Lent themed music for your enjoyment. Jon Sarta offers instrumental versions of “Hosea” and “Jesus, Remember Me”, and we have 2 selections from Lent at Ephesus by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles – “Jesus, My Love” and “O Sacred Head Surrounded”.

We recently learned of the group Voces8 and we feature their performance of “Ubi Caritas”. For a little change of pace we have a few non-chorale songs in the playlist, namely Tom Booth with “Sacred Silence” and Chris Muglia’s “I Need a Savior”. From top to bottom, this is one of our best Lent themed playlists yet.

Catholic Playlist WorshipAnother great collection of sacred and traditional music awaits in Playlist #34 of the Catholic Playlist Worship show. You’ll hear great classic hymns such as “Come Thou Found of Every Blessing” by Collin Raye, a piano instrumental interpretation of “How Great Thou Art” from Jon Sarta, and “O Sanctissima” by Beth Nielsen Chapman. Some newer music includes “Taste and See” from Steve Angrisano, “Be Not Afraid” from Kitty Cleveland and “Sacred Silence” by Tom Booth.

Catholic Playlist Worship #2October is the month of the Holy Rosary, so for this week’s edition of the Catholic Playlist Worship show we filled it with as many Marian songs and hymns that we could find.

The results include songs like “Immaculate Mary” by The Cathedral Singers, “Salve Regina” by L’Angelus, and “Sing of Mary” by The Glory Collective featuring Kevin Heider. Of course the show wouldn’t be complete with “Ave Maria To Thee Holy Virgin” by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and “Hail Mary, Full of Grace” by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles. Oh, and “Ave Maria” by Andrea Bocelli isn’t to be missed too!

First, we’ve never had more than 2 Gregorian chants in a playlist but this week we have 3 – The Monks of Norcia, the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos, and Gloria Die Cantores Schola. Next, we have Kevin Heider performing “Sing of Mary” from The Glory Collective EP “Shine” and Michelle Romary performing “Lady of Knock” from her album “Songs of Comfort and Devotion”.
