We’ve reached the 4th Sunday of Advent which means that Christmas and the birth of Christ is very near. We wrap up our special Advent and Christmas music series with a great list of songs including some familiar favorites in these final episodes of Catholic Playlist and Catholic Playlist Worship for 2015.
We now move to the Third week of Advent and the anticipation is growing as the time winds down to the birth of our Savior. Once again we share the joy of the Gospel through music on the Catholic Playlist Worship show. Normally we’d be playing the best and some of the very newest traditional and sacred Catholic music. But this Sunday marks the start of the new Liturgical year and the Advent season, so instead of music we typically play, for the next several weeks we’ll be playing the best and some of the newest Advent and Christmas music available. Our playlist this week features music from Jackie Evancho, The Priests, Adrianne Price, Jon Sarta, Marian Grace, and the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles. The Boys of St Paul’s Choir School and their album ‘Christmas in Harvard Square’, a great new release last year, leads off our playlist with ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’.

The St Louis Jesuits bring us a classic recording of “Earthen Vessels”, which we haven’t heard in quite a while, and Jack Cassidy smoothly croons “Be Still My Soul” with a skill not often found in a 14 year old!

October is the month of the Holy Rosary, so for this week’s edition of the Catholic Playlist Worship show we filled it with as many Marian songs and hymns that we could find.
The results include songs like “Immaculate Mary” by The Cathedral Singers, “Salve Regina” by L’Angelus, and “Sing of Mary” by The Glory Collective featuring Kevin Heider. Of course the show wouldn’t be complete with “Ave Maria To Thee Holy Virgin” by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and “Hail Mary, Full of Grace” by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles. Oh, and “Ave Maria” by Andrea Bocelli isn’t to be missed too!
